As a new mom in Bend I have been on the hunt for some fun activities to do with my little one, Asher. At only 2 months old and being the middle of winter our activity options were feeling quite slim. Also, activities are a great way to meet other parents in similar life situations. Nothing can create friendship like a sharing a cup of coffee and discussing the challenges of sleepless nights. While researching for groups and activities to participate in I was amazed to find how “baby friendly” Bend was. Here are just a few activities and groups I found.
Mommy & Me Yoga: There are a variety of Mommy & Me Yoga class in Bend, Oregon. Ranging in ages from 6 weeks old to crawling. These classes are a great way to lose some of that post pregnancy weight and bond with your little one. The following locations offer these great classes: Juniper, Bend and Bloom Yoga, and Verve Yoga & Fitness
Stroller Strides: These stroller classes are created to help moms lose weight, bond and enjoy the outdoors. The following locations that offer these classes are: Verve Yoga & Fitness. Verve Yoga is also offering a first class free for parents to try out. These class will pick up again in the spring time.
Moms Meetup of Central Oregon: Meetups are a great way to meet new people. These groups offer a variety of events to participate in. The great thing about this group for moms of kids age 0-6 is that there is a large variety of events and days to participate. Ranging from library meetups, to walks in the Old Mill District to moms only events.
Mommy & Me Support Group: This free group was created to help moms who are breastfeeding. They meet every Thursday from 1-3 pm at the Central Oregon Locavore on 1st St. This baby friendly group is there to support moms who are breastfeeding their little ones. This free group is sponsored by Saint Charles of Bend.
Deschutes Library: I love libraries they offer many free events for parents and children to enjoy. A few times a month the Downtown Bend offers a Baby Steps story time. Which is a story time of gentle rhymes and rhythms. Suggested for kids 0-18 months old and free to the public. The Deschutes Library systems also offer a variety of story times at most of their libraries for a large age range of children. For more information about different story times visit: Deschutes Public Library Story Time
