Bend is a thriving city that is continuing to expanding. With rent vacancy rates being very low and housing prices still climbing, many Bendites have begun looking at outlying areas such as Redmond, Three Rivers South, Prineville and La Pine.
The outlying areas to Bend are also beginning to see a boom. Housing prices (though not as high as Bend) have been steadily increasing and vacancy rates continue to be low.
As a resident of La Pine, I am amazed to see and hear about the growth that is looking to take place over the next few years. La Pine’s home prices are still within an affordable range with handfuls of homes for under the $225,000 mark and rent rates being just as tight as in Bend.
The community of La Pine is also undergoing some amazing changes too. In January 2016 Saint Charles stated intentions of opening a clinic in south county in 2017. According to the Bend Bulletin, they are hoping to break ground later in 2016 with hopes of being finished in summer 2017. The clinic is looking to include 2-3 primary doctors, radiology, labs and visiting specialists.
Not only is health care looking to improve in the south county but also child care. The program Pre-K – 3 is working with families in La Pine in hopes of getting a preschool program through the school district started. This would be for children age 3 or older. Currently La Pine is very limited to preschool programs and many children fall in between Head Start and private preschools. This program is hoping to bridge the gap and help prepare children for school. There is hope of a preschool program beginning as soon as the fall 2016 school year, according to Terry Dedend, in charge of family outreach for the Pre-K-3 program.
In addition, La Pine landmarks are being rumored to change with iconic Gordy’s recently being purchased by an out of town company with intentions to make the truck stop more akin to a Pilot. Locals have also speculated about franchise restaurants like Dutch Brothers and Popeyes Chicken coming as well.
As a resident of La Pine and Realtor in the area I am excited to see and hear about the growth occurring in La Pine.
