Our very own Michelle Slivkoff (Manager and Broker) was at it again. Over the past few month’s Michelle has been organizing a large children’s clothing swap to benefit families in Central Oregon before the cold weather kicks in. She previously assisted in organizing a similar clothing swap in La Pine.
This swap was three times the size of the La Pine swap in August. With over 60 families donate clothes and over 70 families participate in the swap. Parents left with arm fulls of clothes on Saturday November 14, 2015. Early that morning our amazing volunteers assembled to set up for the swap unloading 2 trucks, a car, a mini van and a 12 foot tow trailer filled with boxes of clothes, hats, shoes and other items for children.
The Rosie Bareis Campus was bustling with activity as parents shopped. Children were entertained by our community partners Healthy Beginnings who held a coloring and informational booth.
At the conclusion of the swap the left over clothing was donated to The LOT a non-profit that benefits needy children and family in La Pine. The entrance fee was a non perishable food item which was donated to: The La Pine Christmas Basket Association. We were able to send a truck full of clothes and 3 full boxes of food to needy families in La Pine.
Michelle was elated to see this event benefit numerous families and charitable organizations in the community. She looks forward to seeing what opportunities 2016 brings.
